Hotel Werratal/ Restaurant Pelikan in Bad Sooden-Allendorf

Whether it's a small appetizer for two or a festive family celebration on a large table, I was always very satisfied with the dishes and the service provided by the Pelikan family. And even in these difficult "Corona times", the out-of-home service is highly recommended!

It was just ok?

Here I am a repeat offender, in other words: more often. The staff is always competent, polite and brisk and the menu is something new with every visit - always creative dishes and very tasty.

We have eaten at Gasthaus Pelikan several times. It is beautifully located on the picturesque market square in the Allendorf district in Bad Sooden Allendorf. The ambience of the restaurant is furnished with great attention to detail and you feel welcome from the first moment - even as a "non-Allendorfer". The service is attentive, courteous and eager to please the guest. The menu is seasonal, special weeks round off the changing offer. We had a summer "grill plate" with beef fillet, pork fillet and poultry with french fries and a side salad. There was also a rustic schnitzel with a fried egg and a gravy. The fillet was medium, cooked to the point, the pork fillet was still very slightly pink and the poultry was juicy, not overcooked. The schnitzel, lightly souffled in Viennese breading, the fried potatoes served crispy with a little bacon and served with a gravy that awakened childhood memories. The fried eggs could have used a little less heat. But these are high-level complaints. Our conclusion: honest, very good artisanal cuisine at affordable prices, presented in a sympathetic manner.

I could have given 10 points here. Prepared with love for culinary art, decorated with love and taste, and professional and friendly staff. My goulash was world class and my best goulash ever. Since my bike tours often take me by here, this stopover is a fixed one. There is still a lot on the menu that sounds promising to me ??? See you soon

Wow! I can not say more about that. Very tasty food, very courteous service, great service, all special requests were made possible. Best price-performance ratio. The only small note: quite high prices for the drinks. But otherwise - really great! We would love to come back.

Delicious food: Chanterelle cream soup with delicious fresh chanterelles, bread dumplings, lamb fillet with chanterelles and salad, as dessert chocolate muffin with vanilla cream, ice cream and chocolate biscuits. Great ambience, attractive restaurant renovated during Corona! Here you can feel the passion to entertain the guests well. Good, enjoyable and meaningful entertainment! THANK YOU!!!

Unfortunately we (2 people) had a very disgusting experience on our last visit. There was a fingernail in the patty in a veggie burger. We complained immediately. Someone came out of the kitchen. Unfortunately, communication was not so easy due to the language ... The cook apologized but immediately said: "The patties are not made themselves, they are delivered .... A little incomprehensible with the prices ... We didn't have to pay for the burger with our fingernail, but we did ... During the Corona period, we supported the restaurant with the pick-up service. During this incident, we did not notice that the employees were uncomfortable. A tip to the Pelikan team if such a situation occurs again: Invite the guests completely. Issue the guests a voucher with a discount (e.g. 50%) for their next visit. At least try to keep the guests as guests.

Good food, a great team and a pleasant atmosphere complete this restaurant. Highly recommended if you look at the beautiful Bad Sooden-Allendorf as a visitor or locals value good gastronomy.

Very very tasty. The ambience is just great, modern and classic at the same time. The staff is very courteous and friendly. Many previous speakers criticized the pricing, I can not share that in any way. The quality was incredibly good, fresh salad, great dressing unknown to me, the schnitzel was very tender and of high quality and the hunter's sauce with fresh mushrooms and a spicy taste. All of this justifies the somewhat higher prices that are completely normal in this face. Please continue like this.

Thumbs up for the interesting, varied menu, a little highlight in the region. Unfortunately, the pricing is completely wrong and does not encourage at least to come back on public holidays.

Very comfortably furnished. Waiter friendly. Unfortunately very proud prices, but that's the case in the whole city.

The apple/ salmon cream soup is very unique and I always get the chicken salad with taco shell bowl. The chef is well traveled and has put a lot of study into his cooking craft, making this place one of the best restaurants in the area. Also would recommend the Argentinean steak!
